Guide · packaging & MOQ

Packaging & MOQ for pest traps what drives minimums and how to pack for each channel

Packaging is often the biggest variable in a private label trap program — it decides shelf impact, freight cost and the minimum order. This guide explains common pack formats by channel and what actually drives MOQ at TrapForge, so you can brief an RFQ that gets a fast, accurate quote.

  • Retail, e-commerce and PCO pack formats
  • What drives MOQ: print, molds, glue, packaging
  • Barcodes, FBA labels and master cartons
  • Typical / quoted per SKU — no fixed numbers

Pack formats by channel

  • Hardware, grocery and garden retail: color boxes, header cards, blister cards, clamshells, shrink multipacks, display trays and clip strips.
  • E-commerce / marketplaces: compact, ship-safe boxes; FBA labels and polybag warnings where required; multipacks that hit a price point.
  • Pest control operators: plain bulk packs — stacked boards with liners, nested station housings with keys, refill cartons.
  • Growers: interleaved sticky card bulk packs with ties or clips; rolls on cores.

What drives MOQ

  • Printing: custom-printed boards, liners and boxes need a minimum run per design; neutral or stock print starts lower.
  • Molds and colors: new molds are a fixed cost; custom colors need a minimum per color; standard molds in standard colors start lowest.
  • Glue specification: standard glues start lower than a custom formulation or unusual coat weight.
  • Packaging components: custom boxes, blisters and inserts have their own minimums.
  • Mixed SKUs: combining SKUs in one order helps fill a container even when each SKU is small.

We quote MOQ per SKU on every quotation. If your first order is small, ask about stock formats with a printed label or sleeve as a step toward fully custom packaging.

Labels, barcodes and instructions

Buyers supply their own UPC/EAN barcodes; we print them on packs and master cartons along with FBA labels when requested. Usage, disposal and warning text follows the label content your regulatory team approves — traps, lures and baits can carry market-specific requirements, so we do not write regulatory text on your behalf. Multi-language packs are available.

No registration, certification or efficacy claimed. We supply trap hardware — trap bodies, glue boards, sticky cards and station housings. We do not claim EPA or state pesticide registration, certifications, test results, efficacy or catch/kill rates, and we do not supply rodenticides. Lures, attractants and baits can be configured to comply with the buyer’s market regulations; registration and labeling obligations stay with the brand owner.

Frequently asked questions

Can I start with neutral packaging and switch to branded later?

Yes — many buyers start with neutral packs plus a label or sleeve, then move to full custom packaging as volume grows.

Do you provide barcodes?

Buyers supply their own UPC/EAN codes; we print them on packs and cartons.

Are your traps EPA registered, certified or tested for catch rates?

We supply trap hardware — trap bodies, glue boards, sticky cards and station housings. We do not claim EPA or state pesticide registration, certifications, efficacy or catch/kill rates. Where a lure, attractant or bait is part of the finished product, it can be configured to comply with the buyer’s market regulations; registration and labeling obligations for any pesticidal component stay with the brand owner. Test reports can be discussed on request where available — ask on the inquiry form.
