Mole trap types

Scissor-jaw traps straddle an active surface tunnel and close when the mole pushes the trigger plate; a traditional, widely sold format. Harpoon / plunger traps stand above the tunnel on legs and are set by pressing down a spring-loaded plunger — easy for homeowners to see and set. Loop (choker) traps and tube traps sit inside the tunnel and are popular in European-style ranges. Many lines carry two formats to cover both preferences.

Materials and build

Mole traps use spring steel jaws, spikes or loops with galvanized, zinc-plated or powder-coated finishes; harpoon traps add a steel or PP frame and a safety catch. Spring strength, trigger plate design and overall height are set per SKU on the quotation. Tube traps can be steel or UV-stabilized plastic.

Channels and kits

Lawn & garden retail sells mole traps singly or in 2-packs on header cards; groundskeepers, golf courses and professional mole catchers buy bulk. Kits with a probe, flags and gloves raise basket size. Mole traps pair naturally with gopher traps — see the rodent trap range.

Lures, attractants and baits can be configured to comply with the buyer’s market regulations; registration and labeling obligations stay with the brand owner.

Frequently asked questions

Scissor or harpoon mole trap — which should I stock?

Scissor traps are traditional and widely known; harpoon traps are easy for homeowners to set and see. Many retailers carry both.

Can you supply mole traps with a safety catch?

Yes — safety catches and setting locks are configurable on several formats.

Do you make claims about humane or instant kills?

No. We describe trap mechanisms and materials only. Any humane, welfare or kill-speed statement on your packaging is your decision under your market’s rules, and some markets regulate trap types — we adapt labeling to the text your team approves.

What is the MOQ and lead time?

Both are quoted per SKU. MOQ depends mainly on size, printing and packaging (stock formats in neutral packaging start lower than custom-printed or custom-molded items); lead time depends on printing, tooling and season. Send your quantities and we confirm both on the quotation — see also packaging & MOQ guide.

Are your traps EPA registered, certified or tested for catch rates?

We supply trap hardware — trap bodies, glue boards, sticky cards and station housings. We do not claim EPA or state pesticide registration, certifications, efficacy or catch/kill rates. Where a lure, attractant or bait is part of the finished product, it can be configured to comply with the buyer’s market regulations; registration and labeling obligations for any pesticidal component stay with the brand owner. Test reports can be discussed on request where available — ask on the inquiry form.
