Electronic rat traps · category overview

Electronic rat traps battery, plug-in and connected traps — the full category

“Electronic rat trap” covers several product types: the familiar zapper-style chamber, mains-powered units, connected traps that send an alert, and electronic monitoring for professional programs. TrapForge builds these to your electrical, battery and connectivity specification. For the single-unit high-voltage zapper format specifically, see rat zapper.

  • Zapper-style chambers, plug-in units and connected traps
  • Battery, mains or rechargeable power options
  • Status LEDs, app or gateway alerts on connected models
  • No electrical listing or performance claimed by default

Types of electronic rat traps

  • Zapper-style chamber traps — an enclosed tunnel with high-voltage plates at the back; the consumer format most people picture. Detailed on rat zapper.
  • Plug-in / mains units — the same chamber principle powered by an adapter, for garages, warehouses and plant rooms with a socket.
  • Rechargeable units — built-in battery packs with USB or dock charging.
  • Connected traps — chamber or snap traps fitted with a sensor and radio (Wi-Fi, LoRa or similar, to your spec) that report a trigger to an app or gateway.
  • Electronic monitors for PCOs — sensor modules that clip onto snap traps or sit in station housings to flag activity on a route.
  • Electronic mouse traps — smaller chambers in the same platform; see mouse traps.

What we specify on an electronic trap

Housing (ABS or PP, indoor or weather-resistant), chamber size for mice or rats, power source (AA/D cells, rechargeable pack, adapter and plug type), output and safety interlocks to the buyer’s electrical specification, status indicators, and for connected models the radio, app or gateway and data handling the buyer chooses. We do not claim UL, ETL, CE, FCC or any other listing by default; test reports can be discussed on request where available.

Choosing a format for your channel

Retail and e-commerce buyers mostly want a battery zapper-style unit in a giftable box (see rat zapper). Facilities and PCOs care more about mains power, connectivity and fit with existing station programs. Many brands launch one retail chamber SKU and add a connected version later. Compare with mechanical rat traps for price-driven channels.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between an electronic rat trap and a rat zapper?

“Electronic rat trap” is the whole category (plug-in, rechargeable, connected, monitors). A “rat zapper” is one format within it — the battery high-voltage chamber. See rat zapper.

Can you make a connected trap under our app?

Yes — radio module and app or gateway integration are specified per project.

Are your electronic units UL, ETL or CE listed?

We do not claim any electrical listing or certification by default. Electronic units are built to the electrical standard, plug type and battery configuration the buyer specifies, and test reports can be discussed on request where available.

Do you make claims about humane, instant or guaranteed results?

No. We describe trap mechanisms, materials and sizes only. Any humane, welfare, kill-speed or performance statement on your packaging is your decision under your market’s rules, and some markets regulate trap types — we print the label text your team approves.

What is the MOQ and lead time?

Both are quoted per SKU. MOQ depends mainly on size, printing and packaging (stock formats in neutral packaging start lower than custom-printed or custom-molded items); lead time depends on printing, tooling and season. Send your quantities and we confirm both on the quotation — see also packaging & MOQ guide.

Are your traps EPA registered, certified or tested for catch rates?

We supply trap hardware — trap bodies, glue boards, sticky cards and station housings. We do not claim EPA or state pesticide registration, certifications, efficacy or catch/kill rates. Where a lure, attractant or bait is part of the finished product, it can be configured to comply with the buyer’s market regulations; registration and labeling obligations for any pesticidal component stay with the brand owner. Test reports can be discussed on request where available — ask on the inquiry form.
